![]() |
Name: Catherine Baker
Parents: David Baker and Janet Turner
Siblings: Kristen Baker, Callie Bowman and Caitlin Bowman
School: Brenham High School
School and community programs: Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA); Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA); French Club; Student Council; National Honor Society; and Bluebonnet Girl's State.
Plans after graduation: I am going to the University of Texas, College of Natural Sciences, to obtain a degree in microbiology.
1. Your best experience in school? My senior year and meeting all of my friends throughout high school (they equally boost my confidence).
2. Your worst experience in school? The first day of my freshman year because I knew no one, I didn't get lunch, and I got confused with my campus map.
3. What program, courses or extra-curricular activity would you like initiated in your school? I would like some kind of program that informs students about applying for college (the when's, how's, where's and why's) ... I think students underestimate how overwhelming it really is.
4. What do you think the number one problem with society is? Advertisement - people are being bombarded to have things they really don't need with all the temptations on the billboards and television ads.
5. Your greatest inspiration to pursue your life dreams and goals: an epithelial slide ... I knew from then on I would dedicate my life to studying cells (someone has to, right?).
6. Dogs or cats? Cats! I have five key cats ... Muffy, William, Pritzy, Coco and RB.
7. Video games or computer games? Video games - Donkey Kong World 1, 2, and 3. I have a strong Super Nintendo background ... it was my mental and physical exercise as a child.
8. The greatest act of kindness you've ever received: My dad changing my tires and fixing my blinker ... something I could never do or pay to get done.
9. What problem is most common in friends your age? Apathy.
10. If you had $500 to spend any way you wanted, how would you spend it? Car expenses (new brakes, hubcaps, bumper, hood, window tint ...).
11. Your most treasured possessions are ... my photo albums. 12. If you could change anything about yourself, what would it be? My hair color, which I probably will change soon.
13. Favorite cartoon? “Family Guy.”
14. You could teach someone to ... I could teach someone to make a milkshake. I've had two and a half years of solid experience at the Brenham Airport.
15. You wish you could learn how to ... Fix cars.
16. If you could ask President Bush one question, what would it be? “Any regrets?”
17. If you could have one superpower, which one would you choose?I would really like to read people's minds. I don't ever think people are open enough with what they really think.
18. If you could invent something, what would it be? Voice driven text messaging.
19. What single word describes you best? “Catherine.”
20. What is your very first memory? My dad teaching me how to make air bubbles with washcloths to somehow make using soap an enjoyable activity as a toddler.
