Bucs win opener under McIntyre
LUFKIN, Texas -- The Blinn College baseball team opened the Harvey McIntyre era with a victory on Wednesday.
The Buccaneers defeated Angelina College 5-2 in the first game of Wednesday’s double-header before falling 4-1 in the second contest.
Trey Johnson and Mario Eramo each drove in a pair of runs and Taylor Janak picked up the victory in Blinn’s season opener.
Janak went 5 1/3 innings, allowing two earned runs before giving way to Brian Smith, who recorded the final five outs without allowing a run.
Johnson and Eramo each hit two-run doubles, while Travis Cougot and Zach Leonhardt each drove in runs.
James Brandhorst took the loss in the second game, allowing four earned runs in 3 1/3 innings. Freshman Zach Hardoin pitched the final 2 2/3 innings without allowing a run.
Leonhardt went 2-for-3 with a double, Phillip Butler went 2-for-3 and Eramo added an RBI single.
The Buccaneers will be in Waco Saturday for a noon double-header against McLennan Community College.
