Lake forum

Dennis Williams (left), a Washington County resident and chemist, spoke at a forum here in May 2017 about chemicals used in “fracking” of oil wells. The forum, sponsored by Texas Rural Voices, centered on concerns about petroleum drilling around Lake Somerville.

Residents who frequent Lake Somerville have a few more days to make their voices heard in a different kind of BLM protest.

According to the Bureau of Land Management, residents have until July 1 to protest an August competitive oil and gas lease auction of five parcels of land along the southern edge of Lake Somerville.
