95 years in business

Gloria Nix, owner of Glissman’s Gift Gallery, receives a proclamation honoring the business on its 95th anniversary from Mayor Milton Tate. Nix is the granddaughter of Carl Glissmann, who started the business on Oct. 9, 1924.

Brenham is a finalist for a $20 million distribution/manufacturing facility, city council members were told last week.

Susan Yates, the city of Brenham’s economic development director, said Brenham and a city in Louisiana are the two finalists for the business, which would employ 30 people and have an average wage of $90,000 a year.
