Washington County Sheriff Otto Hanak (left) presents Jail Division Lt. Marlow Lowery with a plaque to commemorate 20 years of service.

On April 1, 1999, Lt. Marlow Lowery walked into the Washington County Sheriff’s Office for his first day on the job as jailer — a position with a typically high turnover rate.

Statistically, it’s a revolving door. But while others have come and gone, Lowery has remained dedicated to his work in the Washington County jail — always with a boisterous smile — for 20 years.
