Under water

Sgt. Mark Whidden of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office checks the water level across FM 1948 at Lake Somerville.

More rain has brought more road closures, with a portion of FM 50 closed this morning in Burleson County because of a rising Brazos River, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.

“We just closed FM 50 in Burleson County between FM 60 and FM 1361 at Buffalo Ranch due to water over the roadway,” TxDOT spokesman Bobby Colwell said in a 9 a.m. closure update today. “This water is coming from the Brazos River as it continues to rise.”
