People Profile--Schultz’s trains chug into Chappell Hill station

Posted: Monday, October 1, 2012 11:21 am

CHAPPELL HILL — Howard Schultz spent his earliest years in New Orleans, enjoyed a move one state eastward to finish high school in Biloxi and, after earning a drafting degree (1967) from Gulf Coast Community College, he would return to a place that naturally exits his lips as “Naw’lins” and design piping for Shell Oil for the next 26 years.

Howard reports he didn’t think it possible to find “another place to call home” surpassing the feelings he’d grown to hold for The Big Easy or beautiful Biloxi on Mississippi’s Gold Coast, but this now 65-year-old gentleman — along with Barbara, his bride since 1995 — both feel very blessed to have chosen Chappell Hill as “our home” five years ago.
