Windy day

Strong winds swept through Brenham Monday afternoon, keeping the flags waving at the Washington County Expo as the state prepared for Tropical Storm Nicholas to make landfall.

As the outer bands of Tropical Storm Nicholas loomed over parts of Washington County Monday and early today, any severe weather activity is expected to be gone by this afternoon.

According to National Weather Service Meteorologist Katherine Lenninger, an estimated three to six inches of rain is predicted to be reported from Nicholas. Some isolated areas may receive more if rain bands form.
