Glenn Douglas Amerson, 81, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 14. He was born at home on Nov. 24, 1938 in Haskell County, Texas. His early years were spent on a cotton farm where he lived with his parents James Howell and Louise Amerson and his older brother Jimmy. They instilled in him his Christian values and the benefits of hard work and commitment. The family moved to Munday, Texas to make transportation to school easier.

He had, what he considered, a perfect childhood, growing up in a small town and enjoying its advantages. He could hear the school bell from his house and make it to class before the tardy bell rang. He was able to get his driver’s license at age 14 but, even before that, the sheriff would allow them to drive to town on the condition that they would leave the car at the edge of town and walk the rest of the way.
