To be honest with you, I’m not the most person qualified to write this column. I don’t know much about my heritage. I grew up white and American and I didn’t realize there was ever more to my story than that. I know I have some Czech in my blood on my mom's side of the family. I don’t know much about my paternal heritage. I've also never felt too inclined to learn about it.

But there are some cultures that greatly value their heritage, history and ancestors. It’s something that is truly beautiful that I know very little about.
