One of my best July 4 memories come from years ago, when my cousin Junior and I would camp out on the banks of the Yegua Creek as it flowed through Lee County and catch fish.

In the “it’s a small world category,” that same property is now owned by Howard Kruse of Brenham. I walked up and down that creek many time in the past, and I knew where all the prime fishing spots were.
