Dear Editor,

I was in the check-out line at the grocery store this week and found myself behind a little boy helping unload groceries for his mother. As a retired Kindergarten teacher, I immediately noticed he was about 5 years old. So I began a conversation with him, applauding the way he was helping his mommy. After learning I was a Kindergarten teacher, he asked," Did you wear glasses when you were a teacher?" (I was wearing my sunglasses). Not, "Did you have grey hair when you were a teacher?" It made me smile to remember the sweet way a five-year old thinks. He noticed my glasses and not my grey hair.
