McCowan headed to state after winning regional title

HUNTSVILLE — Cubette senior Teaira McCowan continued her domination in the shot put this weekend at the 5A Region III track and field meet at Bowers Stadium in Huntsville. McCowan won the regional title with a personal record throw of 43’ 3.5,” qualifying her for the state meet in Austin.

Cubettes to play Elgin in area round

The Brenham softball team will play a best two-of-three series against Elgin for the area round of the playoffs. Game 1 is Friday at 7 p.m. at Alumni Field, and Game 2 is Saturday at Elgin at 2 p.m. Game 3, if necessary, will follow Game 2 at 4 p.m.

Cubs to play North Forest for bi-district

The Brenham baseball team will play a one-game playoff against Houston North Forest Friday at 7 p.m. for the bi-district round of the postseason. The game could be played at Fireman’s Park depending on the conditions of the field. The place will be determined later in the week.
