Brenham Anglers finish second at state tournament

The Brenham Anglers placed second overall at the Texas High School Bass Association’s State Tournament on May 11-12 on Lake Cedar Creek. The Anglers were led by Brayden Derkowski and Colton Jaster (with boat captain Brian Smith), who finished sixth out of 283 teams with a two-day weight total of 26.93 pounds. Their performance eaned them a $5,000 scholarship along with prizes and trophies. Helping the Anglers with their strong outing were Logan Schwartz and Micah Hueske (captain Carter Akers), who placed 61st with a weight of 15.45 pounds, 62nd-place finishers Travis Sallach and Bailey Fish (captain Doug Herms) who reeled in 15.39 pounds, Ben Bosse and Landon Benson (captain Brandon Benson) who placed 81st with 13.87 pounds and Evan Aschenbeck and Reid Aschenbeck (captain Jordon Moehlmann) who hauled in 5.58 pounds for 169th place.
