Lorenzo Vega decided Friday was as good a time as any to make his presence known.

“At the beginning of the week, coach (Eliot) Allen put in an amazing game plan against Elgin, and Elgin’s a very good team,” Brenham’s junior tight end said. “But a couple of weeks ago I lost my best friend, and I decided it was time for me to just get better as a football player and better myself.”
