It took one play for Brenham to erase the the haunting memories of a slow start.

After scoring just three points in the first half of what amounted to the de facto District 13-5A championship last week — an eventual 26-19 Cubs loss to Leander Rouse — Brenham bounced back to score on its first offensive play against Elgin on Friday night. The big swing of momentum led to a huge first half and a 59-7 blowout of the Wildcats in a 13-5A contest here at Cub Stadium.
