Season's ending

The last time the Brenham High School football team and head coach Eliot Allen (pictured above consoling then-senior running back Tyree Jackson) faced Calallen in a Class 5A Division II Region IV semifinal tilt, it ended in a 42-13 loss. This time around, the 10-2 Cubs are eyeing an upset of the eighth-ranked Wildcats, and will have their shot at a season-defining win in Saturday’s rematch the Alamodome in San Antonio.

Brenham’s 2018 season ended exactly how it began — with a hard-to-swallow life lesson in adversity, heartbreak and defeat.

Fast forward one year, and the Cubs have proven themselves experts in retention.
