HOUSTON — Daylonn McCowan raised his hands upward toward the Houston night sky in celebration, and then had to wait for the Brenham defense to hold on for dear life.

The senior running back posted his third straight 100-yard game Saturday night and scored the eventual game-winning 14-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter as the Cubs survived a shaky defensive outing and four turnovers in a 42-38 shootout victory over Houston Heights here at Delmar Stadium.
