Burton High School’s terrific baseball season was capped with a bevy of All-District accolades after it was announced that five Panthers earned 26-2A honors. Junior infielder and pitcher Cash Callahan was named Co-District MVP after a season in which he led his team with 40 hits in 83 at-bats for a robust .482 batting average. He also reached base at a .590 clip and smacked 14 doubles, two triples and four home runs with 49 runs scored and 21 driven in. The district’s offensive MVP award was given to senior Aaron Kohring, a left-handed hitting slugger who clobbered 10 home runs and plated 52 RBIs while hitting .415. He also recorded a team-high five triples and scored 46 runs. Earning first-team recognition were infielders Jackson Kalkhake, a junior who recorded a .376 batting average and Tristan Brantley, a senior who batted .361 this spring. Senior center fielder DeMonderick Winters was also a first-team selection after hitting .446. Second-team selections were senior infielder and pitcher Cade Weiss, as well as junior outfielder Caleb Fuchs. Sophomore catcher Cooper Lucherk was an honorable mention. The Panthers finished the season 23-6-1 and reached the area round of the Class 2A playoffs.
